Thought #1

It's a fact, when a guy falls for a girl, he changes. Now hopefully this change is for the better. Hopefully she is pushing him to be a better person and enhance his lifestyle, but in the case of Jared Allen, I'm not quite sure.

It was reported today that Jared Allen has done what many thought to be unthinkable, he has trimmed his mullet for his wedding.

Now according to Jared the mullet "is more than a haircut, it's a lifestyle," so getting it cut wasn't such a huge deal. Sure Jared, I think that's slang for "she said cut it or no beer at the reception."

Now we've all seen this before. You're buddy who just got hitched skips out on that first poker night consul his better half about her bad day while watching Grey's Anatomy. He claims it was a one time thing. He claims he doesn't mean anything and that he's still the same old dude, but you know better. You know good and well Saturday afternoon he'll be skipping your Rec League basketball game to go check out new blinds at Home Depot. You know he's not going to that big Thursday night game because the season finale of Idol is on. And you know when you are invited to his house for the game, you'll have to take your shoes off and use a coaster.

Yeah Jared, those picture are going to last a lifetime and every time you look at them you'll be filled with regret for not being your manliest on the biggest day of your life.

Thought #2

Does anyone else enjoy it thoroughly when Kobe goes mean snarl on everyone? Dude locks up the mean face and tries to look as tough as possible. The only problem is he never really comes across scary mad, it's more 5-year-old who just got his favorite Transformer taken mad.

Now sure Kobe does have every right to be ticked at his team. Anyone who goes for 38 points, 7 boards, and 10 dimes and who's team still can't pick up the slack enough not to get the L would be more than a little upset. So, no doubt that snare is legit, but still kind of makes me want to laugh, give the guy a juice box, and tell him to take a time out.

Thought #3

Vince Carter may go down in history as one of the most over hyped players in history. Despite the Magic winning game four Vince was only about to contribute 3 points to the effort. Is this really what Vinsanity has come to these days? The Orlando Sentinel might have put it best when the cover of their sports page asked, "Anyone seen Vince Carter?"

What has Vince begun? Sure he looks great on a poster, looks amazing in a dunk contest, but when it comes to games, when it comes to team success, this guy is awful. The worse thing about it might be, he seems to be getting worse with time. By the time he retires his career is going to look kind of like Ice Cube's movie career. Sure you started off strong; you made Friday turned into a cult hit and so you had some promise. Then you decided to go Disney Channel on yourself and make Are we there yet? Now Cube's stock has dropped so far that he's scraping by, making Tyler Perry knock off shows for TBS. Sure to the naked eye you looked like you could have been the next great rapper/actor combo, you dressed the part, but you've just never delivered and always disappointed. 

That's Vince's career in a nut-shell. Yeah he look like a great player, he owned that dunk contest, and he even dunked over that guy, creating a completely new level of embarrassment. However then he went and barely played for the Nets, and lately he's just playing the third rhythm guitar for the band down there in Orlando. You know, the one that's not even really plugged into the amp. Yeah he still looks like a great ball player in warm ups and when he's just messing around with his teammates, but that's not really translating to in game stardom.

The paper had it exactly right; if you want to be remembered as more than the guy from that sweet 2002 poster you've got to show up in this series.
