Butler survives the battle of stupid, Jimmer rolls, and more quick shots from the tourney
Saturday's half-empties:
 - The Pittsburgh Panthers won..... the seventh-grade-bottom-feeder-rec-league team look-a-like contest against Butler Saturday night. The last two seconds of the 71-70 Bulldog victory contain two of the most ignorant plays of the tournament thus far, as Butler's Shelvin Mack's potential game-blowing foul was washed away by Pitt's Nasir Robinson making an even more critical error. Robinson's foul allowed Matt Howard to seal the Bulldog win with 0.8 seconds remaining.

On a brighter note Nasir, Shelvin owes you a fruit basket or at least some coupons to Denny's for saving his facebook from getting blown up with trash talk this morning.

 - The Richmond Spiders ever the sweet-16, defeating Morehead State 65-47, and continue to attempt to distance themselves from the suckiness that is Tobey Maguire.

 - Is Wisconsin the big-name sleeper this year? After last night's 70-65 defeat of Kansas State, maybe so. Everyone loves to build up the little guy which makes it possible for a team like the Badgers, who are good from a major conference, to fly under the radar. It's odd to be considered just good enough that if a smaller team beats you it is a huge upset, but not good enough to really compete for the title.

 - Florida and Kentucky might be in that same category, albeit to a lesser degree, but seasoned tourney coaches making it through the first weekend is a dangerous thing to encounter.

 - Looks like I keep calling things around the house Jimmers for another week, as the dude drops in 32 to help BYU roll over Gonzaga.

Thoughts for Sunday:
What are the odds another No. 1 seed go down today?

Duke -- 30-percent.
Duke is hands down better than Michigan, but it will be interesting to see how Kyrie Irving responses from his first workout in three months. Could the Blue Devils get in an awkward situation of trying to fit him back in a little too soon and end up disrupting their whole team? Wolverine fans should pray so.

Ohio State -- 15-percent.
George Mason isn't under the radar these days, so the Buckeyes will be ready to play.

Kansas -- 5-percent.
The best thing that happened to the Jayhawks was struggling with Boston. They won by the fewest points of all the top seeds in the opening round which should keep them pretty sober minded.

And the others?
- I think VCU will get owned inside by Purdue's JaJuan Johnson and the Rams' run will end.

 - I think Texas will play with clear eyes now that they know Tristan Thompson is returning. The Longhorns are an up and down team, but I suspect they will be up against Arizona Sunday.

 - If Washington wants to sneak up on the Tar Heels today, they will have to do so by being scrappy. If this game is close I like the Huskies to pull off the upset.

 - The Seminoles have a shot against the Irish if they can keep the game pace up. Notre Dame would just assume play this game on the half-court in you drive way, so FSU will need to push the rock to have a chance.

 - I remain high on the Cuse, mainly because I think Jim Boeheim gets more out of less better than any other coach in the country. Of course he doesn't exactly have less right now, so despite me wanting to keep a guy named Buzz around in the tourney, I like the Orange.
