Quick shots from Friday
- Kyrie Irving put up 14 points in his first game in three months to help Duke roll over Hampton, 87-45. The question now is after a winter on the shelf does he wake up feeling like death Saturday and how does he react to that Sunday against Michigan? That second day of a new workout plan is always killer.

- Maybe University of Tennessee AD is just a huge fan of the classic '92 Fab 5 - Duke game? That's best reason I can figure for him throwing out the possibility of Bruce Pearl being canned just before the Vols' 75-45 loss to the Wolverines. Congrats Mike. Duke and Michigan will meet in the tournament for the first time since that 1992 game and you now have plenty of time to continue working on distancing the school from Bruce before the NCAA slaps you both around this summer.

 - The ACC looked less sucky as Florida State beat Texas A&M, 57-50.

 - VCU and George Mason get big wins over Big East schools Georgetown and Villanova, which of course incites every March-only fan to began to tell you they belong. But really, maybe this is more about Villanova (5-11 in their last 16 games) and Georgetown (lost last five games) not belong. I get the tourney selections are a season-long resume deal, but the end of that resume is far more telling than the beginning.

 - Arizona's Derrick Williams threw Wesley Witherspoon's shot to seal Zona's 77-75 win over Memphis.

Saturday's highlights:
- 12:15 -- West Virginia - Kentucky. - Feel like that show Justified could create a plot line around this match up.

- 5:15 -- Morehead State - Richmond - A fun game with no one you can name.

 - 6:10 -- Temple - San Diego State - I like Temple's chances here, a lot.

 - 7:10 -- Butler - Pittsburgh - Last year's runner-up vs. one of this year's favorites. Could be the best game of the day.

 - 7:45 -- Gonzaga - BYU -- What if San Diego St. and BYU went down on the same day? It could happen. What if Jimmer Fredette sold his naming rights to a company producing fishing lures? It should happen.

 - 8:40 -- Kansas State - Wisconsin - The battle of two teams most people predicted to play the roles of the evil step sisters in someone else's Cinderella story.
