Sick day for Duke fans and other thoughts from Thursday
Tourney Quick Shots for Friday

- Sick day it is
What's that you say? Every Duke fan in your office came down with the flu this morning? Well ok, one claimed food poisoning from bad Chinese. Regardless though none will be making a strong effort to come in and take the shots coming there way from Duke-hater nation this morning following the Blue Devils 93-77 loss to Arizona. Guessing very few of them will want to deal with the two dozen cans of cat food on their desk or the kitty litter that their pen drawer is now filled with. Listen, everyone knows the two most obnoxious college basketball fans in any office are the Coach K disciples and the Duke haters and today is field day for the latter.

- Signs of amazing from Williams
I'm always amazed when a guy has his best game on the biggest stage and that is exactly what Derrick Williams did last night with his career-high 32 points, 13 rebounds, and 2 steals. Everyone knew this was where Zona was going, you knew Duke was going to key on him, but in the second half he still managed to put the team on his back and carry them past the Dukies.

- San Diego State and BYU got just far enough for most of us
You could feel a little bit of burnout when it came to these two. There was a general feeling of "yeah, yeah. We get it. They are good. Now you can stop pimping them to  us." So it really is no surprise there was a sense of relief when UConn took out SDSU, 74-67, and Florida eliminated BYU, 83-74. It was like when the last Saw movie finally came out. It wasn't that we were strongly for or against either of them, we were just really tired of hearing the sales pitch.

- Sweet duo
Kemba Walker and Jeremy Lamb combined for 60 points last night, providing a nice punch-counter-punch combo for the Huskies. Plus that's just a combination of sweet names. Add guard Roscoe Smith into the mix and you've got a group of names in Kemba, Roscoe, and Lamb that could easily show up on a Nick toon very soon.

- Speaking of names
Guess I can no longer refer to random things around the house as "Jimmers." Which is lame. However maybe I would have been able to milk that joke another couple of days if Jimmer had decided a few of his 29 attempts. Maybe just one or two of those 12 3-point shots he bricked?

- Butler is the new Gonzaga
Small school, very successful, and we are no longer surprised by a win like last nights victory over Wisconsin, 61-54. I will say though, as good of a coach as Brad Stevens is, he has really got to work on the inbounds pass against the press. The Badgers failed to do anything with it, but the Bulldogs sloppy play towards the end left the door open a couple times.

Friday night thoughts

- If Kansas will eats up Richmond on the inside, they will dominate the Spiders.

- If Florida State gets sloppy, VCU will take advantage of it, and pick up a close win.

- If UNC gets out and runs on Marquette, Roy's team shouldnt have a problem with Buzz's team.

- Kentucky and Ohio State will all come down to officiating. If Kentucky stays out of foul trouble, they will be able to stay close and have a shot at the end of the game.

I’ve desired to write something similar to this on my webpage and this has given me a concept. Cheers.
